Heat Wave – Part 2

Wow, it was hot.  The new state park is amazing, but not when it’s so hot outside.  Originally, my plans for this previous weekend included:

  1. Hiking and taking pictures of Hare Canyon
  2. Sketching pictures of wildflowers and other plants
  3. Reading a new book

Of those three activities, I got exactly nothing accomplished.  I spent my time instead sitting in the shade drinking water and praying I didn’t die of overheating.  Yes, it was so hot that everyone was basically incapacitated!  I drank maybe 2 and a half gallons of water on Saturday (a conservative estimate) and still, somehow, got dehydrated.

On the up-side, the park did show movies at night.  On Friday was the PBS special, “Silent Invasion.”  It was a great show about invasive species in Oregon … and one of my friends had a brief cameo in one of the segments.  Saturday night was a movie on trees.  It was slightly less impressive, but still gave me something fun to do.

Maybe my next camping trip will be less warm and more productive.  Either way, I hope it’s still fun!
