Ah, November

Monday marked the end of another installment of my absolute favorite month.  November encompasses many of my favorite things, but two in particular: my birthday, and Thanksgiving.  Growing up, I was a bit shy.  I wouldn’t introduce myself to new people and when my family took me out to dinner on my big day I’d usually hide in the bathroom through all the singing.

As I grew up, though, I learned to appreciate the attention much more than that.  While I can’t say I love to be sung to, I really do enjoy it.  Strangers singing your praises.  Other strangers having their meals interrupted by all the commotion.  Yeah, I really do enjoy the limelight.

Thanksgiving is the exactly opposite.  It’s a time to come together with friends and family and reflect on all the things that make life valuable.  Much less about the “yay me” and more about the “wow, I’m really lucky.”  After Easter, it’s one of my all-time favorite holidays.

This November held a whole slew of other great activities, too.  Daylight Savings ended late and gave me the opportunity to catch up on some much needed sleep.  NaNoWriMo kicked off without a hitch – being my first year participating in earnest, it was even more exciting to finish at all!

November also gave me the opportunity to reevaluate my priorities in life.  In one weekend I ended a contract with a huge client, embarked into the somewhat-less-than-employed unknown, and had the chance to help out in a truly spectacular event for the Boy Scouts.  Yes, my November was great.

But December looks to be just as productive.  Here were are, day 2 of the 30 Days of Blogging challenge and I’ve managed to stay in the race thus far.  I’m taking on a load of new clients, and embarking on several new adventures in volunteerism at the same time.  November was great, but December promises to be better.

So with just one month left in the year, what would you write down as your most productive month?  What was your biggest accomplishment this year?  What made all of the hurdles you had to overcome to get here worth it?
