A Day Off
The “official” rules for the 30 Days of Blogging allow for one rest day within the month of December. Assuming you write a new post every other day of the month, you’re still technically writing 30 posts within a month, even if they’re not consecutive. Since many people will be busy on the 25th, I recommended that they take Christmas as their rest day. It’s later in the month and shows more promise of not knocking anyone off the wagon.
Personally, though, I had planned to take the 16th off. That would give me two solid 15-day blocks of writing in one month. But here we are, in the middle of a post on my alleged rest day.
So what happened?
Well, I’ve changed my preliminary plan. The original goal was to have several days in a row of quality marketing strategy. That remains the goal, but I want to freshen things up a bit. My last “series” was a bit dry – who really wants to read about statistics. So I want to take my so-called ‘rest day’ to re-evaluate where we are in the 30 Days of Blogging and where we have left to go.
So far, I haven’t yet explained anything about Jumping Duck Media. I also haven’t done any serious branding case studies, either. I want to leave at least 2 days for each topic, and I want the discussions to be well-rehearsed and polished. It will take me a bit longer to reach that level of acceptability, and to take a break now to focus on it would seriously de-rail the rest of the blog.
I know for a fact that to take a real day off now would lead to me needing to take a day off for other reasons farther down the route of this month. That would amount to two off-days rather than one and disqualify me as a finisher in the contest.
So here we are, with a post on my day off. Considering the fact that I haven’t once mentioned marketing strategy, though, I guess you can still count this as a day off. Yet I’ve reached a total of 370 words, so this still counts as a post
