Take a Break

This weekend, I took a break.  Not just from work, not from chores … I took a break from everything.  I drove to the coast early Friday afternoon and spent the weekend amongst the trees, the surf, and (oddly enough) several rabbits in a campground.

Given, my “break” wasn’t entirely intentional.  I had hoped to get a lot of work done on my laptop while I was there, but the Internet was out at the park.  Instead, I had the weekend to myself, cut off from technology, work, and the other distractions of everyday life.

It was fantastic!

Now I face a new week with all of its own challenges and I’m more prepared to face them than I would have been had I spent all weekend preparing.  I’m rested, refreshed, and poised on the line to start this week’s marathon workload with renewed energy reserves.

Although I do have to question, why don’t I disconnect like this more often?  How much more productive would I be in the future if I took little anti-cyber jaunts like this more frequently than shabby Internet connections force me to?

Along the same vein, how much more productive will my business be as a result?  Think about your own life and the brief time you spend disconnected.  How much more productive would you be if those brief times were longer and more frequent?
