As busy as entrepreneurs and small business owners can be, we occasionally get bored. You know what I mean. You sit in front of your computer and think, “why am I doing this? I don’t really want to.” Boredom is just a lack of motivation. You’re the same person, only your passion has been covered over by all of the frustration and exhaustion of the working world.
While my brother was in town last weekend, we decided to go see a movie together. It was an R-rated comedy that, while inappropriate for most settings, we found mildly entertaining. Both before and after the movie, though, my brother made a keen observation.
I had lunch with an old friend last week, and he got on my case for not being as up-to-date with international affairs as I used to be. A few years ago, he was the man who convinced me to start reading The Economist. It’s a fantastic magazine that has important news stories that even the 5 o’clock news neglects to mention. There was one particular issue in SE Asia last week that was forcing him to travel for work. In our lunchtime conversation, he asked my opinion of the business situation.
