Book Content Follow-up

Once again, I’d like to discuss reactions and my intent with Wednesday’s post.

While I didn’t receive any direct comments on the material, I did speak with many of you in person about the topic.  The idea of a clingy salesperson isn’t new.  I’ve had several people call me back a day later (or the same day!) to try for the up-sell.  Really, I get it.  I bought something from you and you’re struggling to make sales in the first place.  Still, back off.

Most of you are familiar with the stereotype that men don’t “cuddle” after sex.  This is a similar idea.  Your customer might need some space – whether to recover from the huge drain of their recent purchase, or so they can savor the lasting moments of closing a long put-off acquisition, it’s up to them and a mystery to everyone else.  You’ve made the sale, now make sure you pave the way for another sale … it just won’t necessarily happen tomorrow.

Coming next week …

Monday – Misleading advertising
Wednesday – MORE BOOK CONTENT
Friday – Discussion of Wednesday’s post
