WordCamp

WordCamp is coming to Portland in less than 2 weeks!  Considering I build just about everything in WordPress, I think attending would be a great idea.  It should be exciting to hear about the new things people are doing with WP, and I look forward to the chance to make more connections with people actively pursing WP-based projects. Construction

I have more respect than ever for people who assemble furniture as a career.  Last night, I invested 5 hours in assembling a new computer desk for my family room.  Our old desk just didn’t give us nearly enough workspace … the new one more than doubles the desk space, and adds a convenient “L” shape, giving ample room to work to either the left or right of the monitor. Entitlement and Cynicism

As a kid, I always would look up to people in higher grades and wait for the day when I, too, could be like them.  They’d get out of school earlier, or have the option of a late start, or … fill in the ellipses with whatever it was the older kids had a right to that I didn’t.  I’d sit back and wait patiently for my turn, as was expected. “Funny” Advertising

There’s a lot of advertising out there that’s fun, even more that’s funny, and some that’s just plain dumb.  Oddly enough, they’re all incredibly valuable.  Take Burger King’s “Creepy King,” for example.  His commercials may have started as the most pointless in the fast food industry, but they stick with you.  I know of a few people who know nothing about Burger King except for the Creepy King.  What amazing potential from one character! Last Weekend
