Simplicity

Hypermiling

Rather than an actual post today, I thought I’d share something else I found over the past weekend.  I keep hearing stories about people squeezing 60mpg or more out of old cars with absolutely no physical modifications to the vehicles.  This is called hypermiling, and I spent a lot of time researching the phenomena the other day.

Unfortunately, I don’t think I can take advantage of all the tricks hypermilers use.  I typically like to stop at red lights and stop signs, semi trucks scare me if I get too close, and I really don’t like pushing my car to get it up to speed.  All things said, though, I think hypermiling has a future … particularly if it means we don’t have to stop at the pump as often …
